In Amy Taylor’s world, there has always been something to paint, make, teach, or imagine.
Painting has always been at the heart of it, but her creativity has never stayed neatly within one medium. Over the years, she has created everything from intricate mosaics and stained glass to enormous hand-painted church banners, handmade cards, illustrations, and the personalized Christmas ornaments she has been painting for more than 30 years.
A lifelong Texan, Amy has also spent much of her life sharing that creativity with others. As an art teacher and longtime teacher of children’s art classes, she believes deeply that creativity belongs to everyone. To Amy, being an artist isn’t about getting everything perfect. It’s about being curious, trying something new, and discovering what you’re capable of creating.
That same encouragement filled her home. Her children learned to draw and paint beside her from an early age, and birthdays and Christmases often came with something Amy had made herself — a mosaic, a piece of stained glass, a hand-painted card, or another creation dreamed up especially for the person receiving it.
Inspired by the Everyday
Amy’s work is joyful, colorful, and full of the things she loves. Animals have always held a particularly special place in her heart, and nature is never very far from her work — or her workspace.
Her home studio has always had a window to the outside world, where painting is regularly interrupted by checking in on the neighborhood birds and squirrels. Those small moments, along with her lifelong love of color, pattern, and the natural world, continue to find their way into what she creates.
Everyone Is an Artist
At the center of Amy’s work is a simple belief: everyone is an artist.
Creativity isn’t reserved for a select few. With encouragement, curiosity, and a willingness to try, Amy believes everyone is capable of making something meaningful.
Today, Amy Taylor Illustrations brings together a lifetime of creating through original mixed-media cards, art prints, hand-painted ornaments, and occasional commissioned work — each made with the same sense of color, care, and possibility that has shaped her art from the beginning.
